WHO WE ARE & WHAT WE'RE DOING
We are retired paramedics with nearly 30 years of experience responding to 911 calls in our community. Domestic violence (DV) and intimate partner violence (IPV) have deeply impacted our lives. To truly end IPV in our community, we must start by addressing it within the homes of Police Officers, Firefighters, EMS workers, and others who respond to these calls. Your donation will help us deliver evidence-based DV/IPV awareness and prevention programs to Police and Public Safety Departments.
WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT:
- The leading cause of death for pregnant women in America is HOMICIDE.
- About HALF of all female homicide victims in the US were murdered by a current or former intimate partner.
- Almost 8 of every 10 incarcerated persons in the US reports to have grown up in a domestic violence household.
- While hard data is lacking, estimates are that IPV is approximately 40% higher in law enforcement and public safety households than in general population. Most go unreported.
